After aimlessly browsing Moda Operandi for about an hour, I kept coming back to this Carven “Map of Paris” outfit. Adorable, non? Full outfit complete with jacket and skirt; I mean seriously, what more could you ask for. With Paris just a year away I thought this outfit would do its job well in the city of lights. What’s even better is that this outfit is available at the Moda Operandi boutique. For all you fashionholics, you know what I mean: no three month waiting time!

A trip out West? Well that must include San Francisco my friends. Before jetting off to Hawaii a short four day stop was made at the city by the bay. Days were filled with riding the cable car along California Avenue (highly recommended-fantastic way to see the city) to over indulging on Miette macarons. But before I begin my San Francisco treat I thought I would talk about another major stop on my California Adventure. Google! Lucky me, I have a brother who eats, sleeps and breathes Google. With that comes its perks: guided tour of the Googleplex? I think so! I do not exaggerate when I say that the employees have a playground at their finger tips. From free food, google bikes, a ball pit and slide that takes you from the second to first floor, what else could you possible ask for? If you ever get an opportunity to tour the Googleplex- do it!

As California continued to amaze me, my brother took us to the Monterey Bay Aquarium- about an hour and half from Sunnyvale. What an aquatic sensation! Prior to hour witnessing these spectacles we stopped at Fish Hopper Seafood and Steaks for a light lunch. You just could not ask for a better afternoon; indulging in a crab sandwich overlooking in the water never fails to impress.

For one of our first days in the city by the bay we decided to take a leisurely afternoon walking about Golden Gate Park. Think Central Park but bigger! Just a tip: its much colder in San Francisco than I expected- bring a sweater. As we toured the famous Japanese Tea Garden it became apparent to me that Japan must be next on my travel list. Every square inch of the Garden is pure serenity. It truly must have been my lucky day because turned out that the DeYoung Museum had a Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit. Hats off to you Mr. Gaultier; spectacular vision and execution. For all you fashion obsessed like me, another must see if you are in the San Francisco area.

As end to the afternoon we finished off with the Golden Gate Bridge (we are such tourists, right?). A drive along and walk through was just enough to witness the architectural sensation. It is hard to imagine that a bridge like this celebrated its 75th anniversary this year as it looks incredible modern for its age. And believe me when I say the view unbelievable. The water, the valley, Alcatraz and city are all in perfect view.

Enough of my detailed review of northern California. Here are some restaurant and shopping recommendations in and around San Francisco.
Around Sunnyvale, California is a place called Santana Row. Anthropologie, Ted Baker, Burberry and small quaint stores all reside here. As the music reflects the upbeat atmosphere it is hard not to have a small spring to your step.
Haight Street in SF has spectacular vintage finds. I managed to find an authentic 1920’s flapper dress used in the artist for $400. I will be back for that.
Well I’m sure there is more to add but this may turn into a five page essay. If you are ever in San Francisco, let me know and I would be happy to provide you with a detailed guide a la Sasha Grigorik.
Enjoy!
After 10 days out West and on the beautiful island of Hawaii, I come back refreshed and ready to work. A week filled with family exploration, fireworks, swimming, lounging and reading can do that for you eh’? Here I share a few photos from my week in paradise.
Enjoy!
